Fort Stockton is a city located in Pecos County, Texas, where it serves as the county seat. The city is situated along Interstate Highway 10 and the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1859, Fort Lancaster sent 1st Infantry Co. H to take post along Comanche Springs. An area called Camp Stockton was born around the Comanche Springs, which was one of the main sources of spring water in Texas. In 1860, the city's name was changed from Camp Stockton to Fort Stockton, TX.
